Residents deserve a local government that is open, accountable, and connected to the people it serves. People want to understand how decisions are being made, where money is being spent, and how they can meaningfully participate in the process.
Too often, residents feel disconnected from municipal decision making or unsure about how and why certain choices are made. That can lead to frustration, distrust, and a sense that people are not being heard. Strong communities are built when residents feel informed, respected, and included in conversations that affect their daily lives.
Transparency is not just about making information available. It is also about communication that is clear, accessible, and understandable. Residents should not have to search through complicated reports or follow every council meeting in order to understand major issues affecting their community.
I believe elected officials have a responsibility to communicate openly and honestly with residents, even when conversations are difficult. People may not always agree on every issue, but they deserve leadership that listens, explains decisions clearly, and remains accessible throughout the term, not just during an election campaign.
Transparency also means making sure community voices are genuinely considered in the decision making process. Public engagement should be meaningful and inclusive, with opportunities for residents, businesses, neighbourhood groups, and community organizations to share their perspectives and experiences.
As a councillor, I would bring a practical and community focused approach to communication and accountability. I believe trust is built through consistency, accessibility, and a willingness to listen and engage respectfully with residents across Ward 4 and the broader community.
